Data Center Design Engineering Manager

Onsite | Contract to Hire | AMER Region Travel Required

We’re seeking an experienced Data Center Design Engineering Manager to lead design engineering services during the construction phase of mission-critical data center projects. This role ensures design integrity, efficient collaboration between design and construction teams, and successful on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee design engineering activities during construction, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and design clarifications to ensure quality and SLA compliance
• Conduct site visits across the AMER region to verify design compliance and resolve urgent design-construction issues
• Lead technical discussions in OAC meetings and provide decisive design direction to address construction challenges
• Manage and coordinate design teams (AOR, EORs) by setting clear priorities, deadlines, and accountability measures to meet project milestones
• Maintain organized design documentation through Procore, Smartsheet, or other project management platforms
• Review and validate design modifications for compliance with company standards and project requirements
• Coordinate and lead site punch walks and ensure accurate documentation and distribution to stakeholders
• Oversee project closeout documentation, including record drawings, lessons learned, and regulatory certificates
• Identify and escalate design-related risks, providing proactive solutions to maintain schedule and quality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field
• 7+ years of experience managing the data center design lifecycle, from concept through construction completion
• Proven experience leading design teams during the construction phase of mission-critical or large-scale infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of construction administration processes and documentation standards
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore and Smartsheet
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel within the AMER region as needed
